Futures Centre is leading the way with personalised tutoring

There’s nothing quite like watching your little one’s face light up when the penny drops. That moment when they master a new skill. Or get to the end of a complex maths problem and realise they’ve correctly solved it. That proud sparkle in their eyes… priceless.

The programs offered by the renowned PLC Sydney Futures Centre, focus on student-centred learning with personalised lesson plans. You won’t find any one-size-fits-all approach to learning - it’s hyper-personalised, meaning individual goals are planned, and realised, much sooner than other set programs.

Director of PLC Sydney Futures Centre, Rowena Barnett, said the results speak for themselves.

“Our students are reaching their individual learning goals faster than those following set tutoring programs,” Ms Barnett said.

“This highly personalised structure means our professional tutoring staff are able to engage in more meaningful one-to-one relationships with the students, as opposed to one-to-many group classes. “We often have parents tell us how impressed they’ve been with our attention to detail and individual learning style.”

A recent survey of teachers and school leaders in Australia and New Zealand found that 80 per cent believed students would need extra instructional support when returning to school, and the top three concerns were of “social isolation, a decrease in student wellbeing and learning loss”.

While 2022 has allowed for the return of face-to-face tutoring, the Futures Centre will continue to offer online learning, or blended tutoring, that works around the student’s schedule and goals. While this primarily addresses the aforementioned learning loss, the personalised learning structure means that tutors can also identify when a student requires additional wellbeing care, and can take immediate and appropriate actions to help support the student.
