Our Holiday Maths and English Course for students in Years 3 and 4 is designed to make learning enjoyable and effective. This program focuses on reinforcing essential skills and introducing new concepts in a fun and engaging way.
In English, students will strengthen spelling by investigating word families, prefixes and suffixes before using storytelling prompts to plan and write their own short narratives with clear characters, settings and complication. They will also develop reading fluency and comprehension through shared reading, small group rotations and independent reading tasks.
In Mathematics, students will revise core number skills with quick-fire arithmetic challenges and solve real-life word problems, progressing to multi-step challenges. To finish, they will investigate shapes and space by hunting for 2D and 3D shapes, constructing them from two-dimensional nets and testing which shapes are the strongest for building structures. The day concludes with a group reflection to consolidate learning.
