Gifted Students – Years 2 & 3

Two workshops will be run over two days:

  • Day 1 Workshop: Confidence Takes Centre Stage – 7 October 2026
  • Day 2 Workshop: AI Adventures: Teach a Machine to Think – 8 October 2026

Day 1 Workshop: Confidence Takes Centre Stage - The Performance Confidence Booster

Step into the world of performance with an engaging workshop designed to help students build confidence, communicate with clarity and embrace their individual strengths on stage. Through purposeful drama games, performance exercises and team-building activities, students will be encouraged to express themselves, step beyond their comfort zone and develop confidence in situations where effective communication and self-expression are essential. Students will explore a range of performance scenarios, including auditions, improvisation and rehearsed drama scenes, providing practical opportunities to develop stage presence, verbal and non-verbal communication skills, creativity and confidence in front of an audience. This workshop is designed to support both students who may find it challenging to express themselves and those who naturally enjoy the spotlight, allowing each student to develop from their own starting point. Throughout the workshop, students will be encouraged to perform in front of their peers, take creative risks and recognise and celebrate each other’s strengths in a fun, welcoming and supportive environment. Combining drama, communication and performance, this workshop provides an engaging opportunity for students to strengthen their confidence, self-expression, creativity and presentation skills while discovering the enjoyment and personal growth that can come from performing.

  • Venue: PLC Sydney Studio Theatre
  • Day: 7 October 2026
  • Time: 9.00 am – 3.00 pm
  • Cost:
    • $160 for one workshop (Day 1 or Day 2)
    • $290 for both workshops (Day 1 and Day 2)
  • Enrolment Deadline: 28 September 2026

Day 2 Workshop: AI Adventures - Teach a Machine to Think

Can you teach a machine to think? In this engaging, hands-on workshop, students will explore the fascinating world of artificial intelligence by discovering what AI is, what it is not, and how machines learn through the process of training a simple AI themselves.

Through interactive games, storytelling and collaborative team challenges, students will investigate how computers recognise images and patterns, why machines follow instructions exactly as they are given, and how artificial intelligence can sometimes be challenged or “tricked”. Along the way, students will develop essential skills in recognising patterns, giving precise instructions, evaluating responses and using AI safely and responsibly, just like real AI trainers.

Designed to encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving, this workshop provides students with a meaningful introduction to an increasingly relevant area of technology and digital learning. Rather than simply using AI, students will begin to understand how it works and how humans play a vital role in training, guiding and evaluating intelligent systems.

A fun, active and thought-provoking learning experience for curious students who want to understand the technology around them and develop the confidence to engage with artificial intelligence creatively, critically and responsibly.
