Day 1 Workshop: Storytelling – Telling Tales Through Time

We all have a story to tell — and stories have been part of every culture, everywhere!

On Day 1 of our holiday program, students will become time-travelling storytellers. We'll explore how people have shared stories over thousands of years — from ancient cave paintings and Egyptian hieroglyphs to Aboriginal Dreamtime stories and picture books today. We'll bring stories to life through drawing, acting, puppetry, and play.

Students will also learn what makes a great story, including fun features like surprise endings, exciting problems and heroes and villains! They’ll get to create and share their own story — as a drawing, mini performance, comic strip, or simple written tale — using their imagination and their favourite way to express themselves.

Venue: PLC Sydney Junior Library

Teacher: Lachlan Ryan

Day:  Wednesday 16 July 2025

Workshop Duration:  09:00 am - 3 pm ( 6 hours)

Cost: $160 for each Workshop (Day 1 or Day 2)

Or $290 for both workshops ( Day 1 and Day 2)

Enrolment Deadline: Monday 7 July 2025

Day 2 Workshop: What Is Everything Made Of? – A Playful Journey Into Science - Thursday 17 July 2025

What do chocolate, bubbles, and balloons all have in common? Let’s find out!

In this exciting science adventure, students will become junior physicists as they explore how the world is built from tiny, invisible pieces called atoms. We’ll investigate how these building blocks behave when they’re heated, cooled, or combined — and how they come together to form everything we see, touch, and use.

Throughout the day, students will:

  • Explore the mysterious behaviour of different states of matter
  • Observe surprising reactions and transformations.
  • Build simple models to represent how matter is structured.

Ask big science questions like: “Can matter ever disappear?” and “What happens when we mix two very different things?”

This workshop encourages deep thinking through play and hands-on discovery, inspiring young learners to see the world through a scientific lens.
